“Paul reminds Timothy that God has given him all that he needs to face life’s fears. When we are confronted with a trial or tribulation, we start to fear. We fear man, loss, pain, and sorrow. We can focus so much on the fear that we forget God has already given us the tools for victory - power, love, and a sound mind. No matter what we go through, God is with us. We don’t have to look to ourselves to fix fear. Instead we look to God who gives us His strength.”

"Trust in the Lord, and do good (then do good)." P

"Trust in the Lord, and do good (then do good)." Psalm 37:3

At least ten times the Psalmist admonishes us to put our trust in the Lord. He states that it is far better than putting our trust in men (Ps. 118:8) or government (Ps.118:9). Trustworthiness is a lost commodity in these tumultuous times. How good to know there is One who is absolutely trustworthy and that He will never disappoint us. Our response is to do good. May He help us to do so today.

Simply trusting every day,
Trusting through a stormy way;
Even when my faith is small,
Trusting Jesus, that is all.

"We will not hide them from their children,
Telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord,
And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.

And Abraham...called there on the name of the Lord

And Abraham...called there on the name of the Lord, the everlasting God." Genesis 21:33

One rendering of, "the everlasting God", is literally, "the God of the vanishing point". Standing on the road of life, the vanishing point is that spot in the distance where the road disappears, and our eyes no longer see what lies ahead. A new year is beginning tomorrow. Who knows what it will hold? We may find that even tomorrow will not unfold as predicted. But one certainty we can rest upon, is that the everlasting God is already waiting in all of our tomorrow and He will complete the work He has begun in us.
